NEW CREATIONS

2021-
Polymer Clay Sculptures

Bright clay sculptures give 3D form to my watercolour paintings.

PAINTING

2020-
Abstract watercolour and acrylic

A large part of my practice consists of painting and mark making. Painting is often how I think through larger installations or sculptures.

THE COMFORT CONE

2019

How To Be Comfortable in Uncomfortable Places:

1. Think only good thoughts when constructing your Comfort Cone.

2. Bring your Comfort Cone wherever you go.

3. If this isn’t possible, leave Comfort Cone in an uncomfortable place. It will be there for you when you need it.

4. Visit your Comfort Cone and the uncomfortable place at least once a day. 5. Encourage others to wear their Comfort Cone. This will create more comfortable spaces for everyone.

6. Think of Comfort Cone with love, especially when you are not swaddled by its warm folds.

7. Ensure your Comfort Cone is a colour that calms you . Others will hopefully appreciate your choice.

8. Do not openly insult others’ colour choice or Comfort Cone accessories. Retire to your own Comfort Cone and let the fibres absorb your frustrations.

9. Do not be ashamed to cry in your Comfort Cone, especially if someone insults its function or form. The fibres will absorb your tears.

10. Speak to your Comfort Cone in soft tones. This way no one will be able to hear you from inside. You will also enhance the bond with your Cone.

CLICK, CLIQUE

2019

I am interested in how bodies respond to their surroundings, especially in social settings. We present ourselves very differently depending on our emotional/physical distance to others (I’m thinking of our internal versus external selves). For many, socializing involves an element of discomfort.

I used an analog synthesizer to make organic (popping and gurgling) sounds which enhances the bodily feel of the work. The bodily sounds are accompanied by space/futuristic and droning  sounds which increase the feeling of alienation (social alienation but also ALIENation).

INTERNAL DOORKNOB AT NIGHT

2019

This piece is a video from a durational performance about mental health and daily practices. I placed black plasticine on my doorknob and photographed it each day (usually in the evening) to track the changes.

ESCAPE THE GARDEN

2018

An early exploration of claymation.

PI

2017-2018

For this project I was working with found conceptual objects as made by chance and encountered by artist. I encountered the words and removed them from their original context. I ask viewers of my work to read this new language that has stumbled out of my subconscious.
